Beth Patane, MS, LCAT, ATR-BC, NCC

Beth Patane is a compassionate and highly experienced art therapist with over 25 years of work in the mental health field. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Art Therapy with a focus on child development from St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, NY. She earned her Master of Science in Art Therapy from the College of New Rochelle while gaining valuable clinical experience at Westchester Medical Center.

Beth is a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist in both New York and Connecticut, a Registered and Board-Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC), and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). Her extensive career spans work in hospitals, schools, and nonprofit organizations, serving diverse populations. Over the years, Beth has worked with children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric clients in behavioral health hospitals and specialized programs. Her experience includes working with MICA clients (those with co-occurring mental illness and chemical addiction), individuals managing substance abuse, oncology patients, neurodiverse children and adults, people with eating disorders, and everyday individuals navigating life’s challenges.

Beth has supported clients managing grief, loss, trauma, and self-esteem issues and has guided those who feel stuck or need support through life’s trials and transitions. She is dedicated to gaining a comprehensive understanding of every population she works with, providing insight, compassion, and tailored therapeutic approaches to meet each person’s unique needs.

Beth’s therapeutic style emphasizes non-verbal communication, using art and play as tools to help clients express emotions and experiences they may struggle to articulate verbally. She is particularly skilled at helping clients uncover unconscious metaphors in their artwork, bringing greater self-awareness and enabling the therapeutic process to progress at a faster pace. Her work is informed by neurobiological research, employing sensory-based art materials to promote self-regulation, reduce anxiety, and enhance overall well-being.

Beth’s passion for art therapy began in high school, where her love for psychology and art helped her process her own life experiences and anxieties through creative expression. This personal connection to the transformative power of art inspired her to dedicate her career to helping others heal and thrive.

Outside of work, she finds joy in baking, cooking, and exploring the outdoors. She is also committed to supporting youth in her community, volunteering in religious education at her local church and leading Cub Scout and Scout troops.

Beth’s dedication to empowering individuals—whether children, adolescents, adults, neurodiverse individuals, or people managing loss, trauma, or life transitions—has made her a trusted figure in the mental health field. Her commitment to fostering self-esteem and providing a safe, supportive environment allows her clients to feel deeply understood, accepted, and capable of achieving their full potential.
